Listingslab Productions .eu

It's been a long time in the planning, but I've finally made myself a website for my Listingslab business.

www.listingslab-productions.eu

I'm going to be going in a different direction with the mothership URL, www.listingslab.com. So I've created a whole new domain for the Listingslab Productions website.

The .eu domain lets people know that it's a European company, not a UK one, and the purpose of the site is to find the kind of clients that I'd like to work with. It's a site which can grow and develop. A mash up between Drupal and Flash. it has equal emphasis on being well set up for Internet Marketing (SEO) and clean delivery of information and design to real people who might actually look at it to see if Listingslab know what they're talking about.

Hopefully it shows that even though I live in some little village up in mountains, I can still do you a good website and probably a lot cheaper than those London chaps too!

It's a long time since I've had my own business website that is good enough to start promoting. There's still a lot of work to be done with editing the content of the site, but that's easy with drupal. I'm rather proud of it. I always think my last work was my best. I guess when I stop thinking that, then I'll stop making websites.

An interesting SEO thing from the BBC

Radio 4 usually sounds a bit stuffy - the presenters not being known for their youth and tech-savvy. Having said that, the BBC - and in particular the BBC's website - is very cutting edge, with all kinds of blogs, mini-sites and of course an world leading news portal making it a very heavy weight prospect in the world of search.

Usually if the Radio 4 presenters are giving out a web address, it sounds like a struggle. "Double yew, double yew, double yew, dot.... blah blah blah....". But tonight Eddie Mair on the PM program did something different, and very progressive. He was talking about some pictures on the PM blog, and said the following: "Just type 'PM Blog' into any search engine". Now that's the way to do it.

That's what I say to people who ask what my website address is: type 'listingslab' into google.

The first stage of the process is to identify and define the goals of the SEO effort. The client will need to think about what keywords and phrases they want to target, and what goal action they would like the traffic to perform once they have found the site.

e.g. BigKid wish to target potential customers for their video production business. They decide to target the following phrases: ‘video production’, ‘corporate video’ and ‘brand funded video’. The goal action they want to achieve is for a visitor to fill in and submit an enquiry about their video production needs.

Other goals might be to get users to sign up to a newsletter, to purchase a product or to watch a particular film clip. Goal actions differ in how difficult they are to achieve.

We offer the client a questionnaire as the first step to identifying and defining the SEO goals.
