Current favorite flickr photostream
Somewhere in Toulouse there is a library where a person after my own heart works. I don't know this person, nor am I likely to ever meet them. But I AM subscribed to their flickr photostream and it's currently my very favorite RSS feed.
This person is slowly scanning in and uploading the Library's photo collection to flickr. This is a normal archive of images from the local area round Toulouse and the Pyrenees from as far back as..... well since the photography was invented I guess. Many libraries all over the world would have something similar.
But they are not only simply scanning and uploading the images, the Bibliothèque de Toulouse are also researching the images, categorizing them, geo-tagging them and thus preserving this precious archive in a way which will benefit our children's children.
I also like that they've chosen flickr to do this. It's my own choice too. Bravo.
