New Listings Lab project gets it’s first customer

So this year I’ve been working on a new and really fun project. A joint venture between myself and my friends at All Mountain Performance, we have been creating a DVD with a difference. As part of AMP’s ski courses in Chamonix Mark offers clients video feedback of their skiing. During the course he films the skiers doing a variety of different kinds of skiing and then over a beer in the evening he goes through the footage in slow motion to give very specific tips on what to think about for the next day.

It’s an excellent teaching aid, but at the same time, many of the clients would love to keep some of the film themselves. Aside from putting some of the clips on YouTube, we’ve been developing a DVD for All Mountain Performance which on the one hand is a promotional tool, but can also have the course footage added to the end to create a customised DVD for the clients.

Last night we gave our first demo of the product to the expert course clients on this week’s course. It was an epic powder day yesterday morning and the video feedback footage was just…. Hollywood. And we’ve got our first customer for the new product! Brilliant!

Here’s the demo film, as uploaded to Youtube.

Now, while I’m sure this particular business venture isn’t the one which is going to allow me to retire and never work again, but it’s definitely the most rewarding project I’m working on at the moment. I get to ski with Mark all season, which makes the whole project worth it to me. But you never know - we might start selling enough DVDs to more than cover our costs, and there are certain many other businesses in this valley who could be interested in the same kind of thing. And then there are sponsorship opportunities on the product itself. It’s certainly an exciting new branch of business for Listings Lab, and I’m enjoying it immensely.
