Summer starts today. At last
1st August, and it's finally time to draw a line underneath a shite start to the summer. After an extended period of financial pressure, Listings Lab is finally back on track. There are still a few debts to pay back to the kind people who helped me out, but it's under control at last. In fact it's even better than OK. Martin and I have opened up a whole new line of work with the drupal thing, which is going well. Our American clients are happy with our work so far and are talking about lots more in the pipeline. A good, solid bread and butter income for us is what we need, with some flash work and other contracts icing the cake.
This eening I'm driving over to Switzerland. Sarah and I are visiting my lovely friends Ryan & Sarah who live in Divonne-Les-Bains, just outside of Geneva. Actually Divonne is in France, but the country boundaries are all very blurred around that part of the world. So anyhoo, it should be a great evening, hanging out and catching up with some old friends, and lovely for Sarah to meet them too. Here's Ryan and Phil, 10 years ago at uni in Newcastle. I love it when we all get the chance to meet up - it doesn't happen that often these days.
On the down side, I'm taking Sarah to the airport in the morning. She's off on tour with Norah Jones for a month.
I'm also looking forward to taking advantage of the good weather. My good friend Phil coming back to Cham with me on Thursday. We're going to do a load of climbing and start some alpine climbing (mountaineering- ice axes, crampons & all that crazy stuff). We might even take a little trip out to the Matterhorn to have a recce.
So it's relief I'm feeling. There's nothing like having your back against the wall to focus your mind, and the hard work of the past 2 months is finally paying off. I can't exactly kick back completely, but I can at least take my foot off the gas and cruise for a while.
