Worried about work
I’ve been worrying about the work I do for a while now. A little while back I was worried that I couldn’t actually do flash development anymore. That I’d simply lost the knack. But I’ve been working on a big project for a high profile client over the past few weeks and it seems I still can do the actual work.
It’s just that it winds me up to do it. I get fully aggressive, ill, snappy with everyone and just way too stressed to be around. Maybe it’s always been like that, and maybe as I have been thinking - it’s just work and no-one likes work.
But although there’s a certain credibility to that thought, it also has to be said that if your work is pissing you off and making you feel crap then it’s probably time to start thinking about changing the work you do.
I’m burned out of this internet stuff. I’m going to have another look on the internet for lumberjack schools.

A friend of a friend had a nervous breakdown at work once…
He was watching some builders demolish a wall over the road and just started to sob… “Why can’t my job be as straight forward as: Here’s some bricks, make them smaller?”
You’ve got to love IT.

LOL at Dark0’s comment. “Here’s some bricks, make them smaller” Bwahahahah!
But it’s good and bad. You can crank up the music, you rarely if ever have to phsyically meet with anybody and on those rare occasions where you have to pick up the phone you can swear at them with the mute key on. And best of all you can choose to live in a ski resort, yet not suffer a ski bum salary.
I know, I know, you’re suffering through 1000s of lines of actionscript and it must be driving you mad! I get the same way with my work - I go a bit nuts and start dreaming about brick laying. But then you have to put it in perspective, I think, and for me (and you too, I think), all in all it’s not such a bad deal really.
The thing you’re developing looks super cool, btw. I’d say you definitely still got it. :-)
