Guerrilla Marketing
I was round at Andy’s chalet last night. After a bit of booze we started talking about guerrilla marketing ideas for the Chamonix-Valley website. Chamonix’s a small lace though, and I don’t think we’re doing to be able to laser our URL onto the side of Mont Blanc without getting in trouble. But after a [...]
Lest we forget
Yesterday was the 11th November. Armistice Day. It’s always been something that has made a big impression on me, ever since I was about 10 and did a project about the first world war at primary school. I just couldn’t understand how people would have done that. How could the generals have said ‘right…. Go [...]
An eventful day in Tignes
Yesterday the boyz and I went to the Tignes glacier to go skiing. We’re frustrated waiting for snow here and Chamonix, and decided a 3 hour drive there and back was worth the effort just to get up there and ski for a bit.
Turned into an eventful day, though. Cutting through Italy and up through [...]
3 Hour lunches
One of the things I love about France is lunch. It’s something that seems to have disappeared in England – it’s a sandwich at your desk or a snatched half hour with a mate for sushi or a burger or something. Lunch only happens once a week - on Sundays. Here in France, lunch [...]
Living life to the full
Last week a friend of mine posted this on his blog

This picture shows the geographical location of the [...]
Not something you see every day
I was out walking in Les Houches this morning and found a stockpile of telecabines waiting to be hung on the new ski life that’s being built just next to my flat. www.leshouches-prarion.com/. It should be finnished in a month or so. Can’t wait to use it.
Poker night triggers early weekend.
The boys were round geezer Fred’s on Thursday for poker. Andy McCrampons, Mark the Seppo, the boy ward and myself. It was supposed to be civilized, when everyone being able to drive home. It turned out to be late. Very late. And I had to test my new ski jacket out walking the 2km home.
Amazingly [...]
The first day of winter
So winter is here In Chamonix and it’s getting cold. I had to scrape th ice off the golf this morning and it’s dark at 5:30pm. On the other hand, it is very beautiful. This is what the Aiguille du Midi looked like from my office this morning.
Proud father of a monkey
Monkey Magazine has launched! I think today will be looked back on as a changing point in the publishing industry. Monkey Magazine is a completely new product. It’s based on the same concept as Loaded, and FHM, and is published by the same people who do Maxim, but the difference is there is no hard [...]
