No right turn

So the guys in the garage last week told me about the broken steering on my car. It’s dangerous they said. I knew it was a bit broken, and I was going to get them to order the part and fix it this week. Promise. As soon as my parapenting course was finished and I could survive for a few days without a car.

Then last night I was driving home to Les Houches from Chamonix after dropping off a friend and suddenly the steering degenerated completely. I couldn’t turn the wheel to right. I was still 4 or 5 km from home and it was late. For a moment I did actually find myself considering the roads back to my apartment and thinking – do I actually need to turn right to get home? Perhaps I could make it. Of course common sense prevailed and I left the thing parked in Les Bossons and walked 4km back home.

The garage guys are going to rescue it later today and sorting it out for me, but I can’t imagine I’ll have it back before the weekend, so it looks as though I’m just going to have to survive without a car for a while. My mate Andy lives in Les Houches without one and he manages just fine. I am very dependant on it, though, and feeling its loss.

I can understand, I have been driving less than a year now, and the idea of being with out the car for more than a day is now worrying

Did the fresh air from your walk, clear your thoughts?…….Happy 1st birthday to the memories you have shared.

Sounds like Zoolander
