La Golf

I took the golf into the garage today. I was a bit nervous that it might be the end for her. She has been refusing to start in the mornings and emmitting a huge billiowing cloud of smoke at worryingly regular intervals. Turns out the little thingy that heats up the diesel on a cold start needed a new fuse, so that’s fixed.

It had a good service and now runs much better. It does need a new steering rack or something, though. I didn’t really understand the French for what it needs, but I can feel the play and knocking noises in the steering and can feel it’s a little dangerous. 2-300 euros. I understood that bit just fine, and I’m quite happy that’s all it needs. Looks like it might just survive into the winter season before I need to buy a new car.

Wouldn’t that be ‘Le Golf’ ? La voiture, but le golfing . . . Good luck on the steering. Better get it fixed before twisty mountain roads do you in though….
