Alpine Wildlife

So this weekend was Andy’s birthday and to celebrate we went back to the Aiguillette d’Argentiere. My friends from Annecy, Ryan and Sarah were there too and this time I brought my camera (which I didn’t actually loose, just misplaced)

have a look at the rest

One of the coolest things about the day was that we were joined by a family of Ibexes. They were very bold, not scared of us at all, and just kind of watched us climbing slowly with our ropes before running off up the rock to show us how it’s done properly.

The Ibexes were really cool, but then Ryan caught sight of an alpine weasel. He was a shy little critter, and soon buggered off. So we were pretty chuffed with ourselves about the wildlife spotting when along came …… a marmot! Everyone loves marmots – here’s a picture of one.

So that was our day, not quite all of it because I cooked thai for everyone in the evening and had lots of people round at mine. The wildlife spotting wasn’t quite over though – from out on the balcony that evening we watched a hedgehog the size of a small dog out hunting. I’m a big fan of Sunday night nature programs, me, but I think climbing with Ibexes is much better than watching on telly.
