Back. Mostly.

I’m back in front of my computer. A couple of day’s break was excellent, but I reckon a few weeks is what I really need. It’s been pretty full on since I returned from my last London trip a couple of months ago and I needed a holiday back then. What with setting up the office, moving flat, getting a team of people together and dealing with the constant pressure from London, I reckon it all got a bit much.

So I went up to the Jura, a few hundred km away and visited a very close friend of mine and her family. There aren’t many people who know me well enough to be able to help me calm down and realise what’s important, but she’s one. Spending an afternoon supervising the kids by the pool in the garden was fun and gave my friend the time to get some stuff done she needed to do too. I enjoyed meeting her husband for the first time too, although it’s frustrating not to have enough French to have any meaningful conversations.

It’s good to get out into the real France. Chamonix is many things, but proper France isn’t one of them.
