What If?
What if websites could learn? Obviously they’d become insufferable smart-arses almost immediately which is the problem with most Artificial Intelligence. They’d have to learn in the same way that people learn. Painfully and slowly.
So how do we learn? Through pain. Ask someone to relate a childhood accident which caused a scar and they’ll tell you the minutest details. Ask them to tell them the details of what led up to the last time they felt happy and they’ll struggle.
So what might me a computer system’s equivalent of pain? How can we make a computer squeal? Make it struggle? How do we put the pressure on? Maybe the answer to give them a sense of what drives us. Loneliness, isolation - a need to belong.

UPDATE
The boy narg (alo known in certain circles as whitenoise) put me onto this website. http://www.20q.net, which is a website which actually learns. Try it out - see if it can guess what you are thinking.
